Vision Dice Tower Update #6: Big Progress and a Hardware Pivot

Vision Dice Tower Update #6: Big Progress and a Hardware Pivot

Originally published on Kickstarter on June 2, 2026.

It’s been a while since our last update, and that’s on us. Thank you for your patience. The good news is that we’ve been making real progress across multiple fronts, and we wanted to share where things stand and what’s next.

Late pledges are still open on Kickstarter for anyone who missed the campaign and still wants to jump in.

What we’ve been working on

1. The tower looks better

We worked with a designer to improve the tower’s exterior and overall appearance so it feels more polished and like a final product—not just a functional prototype. We’re excited about how it’s coming together, and we think it better matches the kind of product you’ll want sitting on your table.

2. App and dice-reading improvements

We’ve continued working on the app and software with a focus on the two things that matter most:

  • Faster performance: Reducing the time from roll to result.
  • Higher accuracy: More consistent reads and fewer edge cases.

This is the core experience of Vision Dice Tower, and it remains a top priority.

3. Manufacturing progress

We’ve been working with our manufacturer to refine the print and work out kinks in the production process—fit, tolerances, print quality, and repeatability. This work isn’t flashy, but it makes the difference between a cool prototype and a reliable product we can ship confidently.

A road bump: Computing hardware costs increased

We hit a real-world issue with the computing hardware we were planning to use: the price has gone up, and that affects both our cost structure and long-term stability.

Instead of simply accepting that increase or risking future supply surprises, we’re actively testing components and working toward a custom printed circuit board solution.

In plain terms, that can help us:

  • Control per-unit costs more effectively.
  • Improve supply stability and reduce dependence on one off-the-shelf option.
  • Create a more purpose-built internal design for the tower.

Timeline note: We are still targeting Q4 2026 delivery. However, this hardware pivot could push timelines back depending on what PCB testing reveals. We’re sharing this now because we would rather be transparent early than surprise you later, and we’ll keep you updated as we validate the path forward.

What’s next

Our near-term focus is:

  • Continue improving speed and accuracy in the software and app.
  • Finalize the manufacturing print refinements.
  • Push PCB testing forward so we can lock the most stable hardware plan.

Late pledges are still open

If you know someone who was waiting to see how things went, late pledges are still available on Kickstarter.

We want your feedback

If you backed because you’re excited to get a tower, we’d love to hear what matters most to you: speed, accuracy, app features, VTT integrations, or something else.

Thank you again for backing us and sticking with us. We’re building this carefully and doing it right.
