JOSH CABARRUS
Co-Founder and CTO
Josh Cabarrús began playing Dungeons and Dragons in 1989. He then played sporadically throughout his youth. He has fond memories of many a game session degenerating into pure chaos due to the immaturity of both him and his friends.
Josh also read many books in the Dragonlance series, Raistlin being his favorite character. A renewed interest in the game happened when the third edition came out, and Josh enjoyed both being a player and even DM'ing.
The Forgotten Realms became his favorite campaign setting. His longest custom campaign took place across the realms as the players battled the Shadovar. The shades had returned and conquered Cormyr as the first step in reestablishing the Netherese empire.
Josh’s friends threw him a surprise bachelor party were they were able to play 4th edition a week before the official release on a cruise ship. One friend in the group worked at a local game store and was able to get advanced copies of the rulebooks. The 5th edition starter set provided new opportunities and friends.
Josh met his current group at work when he noticed the starter set on a coworker’s desk. Eager to play, Josh volunteered to run the game for the group.
Over the next few years, lives got busy, Covid came and went, D&D got more popular with Stranger Things, Critical Role, the D&D movie, and Baldur's Gate 3. Josh and his friends were only able to play on Thursday nights online.
One night, he asked if he could live-stream their games. The group agreed, and thus was born the Order of the Dice.
Josh has been married to his wife Mandy for 16 years and has 3 beautiful girls, ages 10, 11, & 14. Josh currently works at a cybersecurity company as a Sales Engineer. When not playing D&D, Josh enjoys PC gaming, shooting guns in the Utah desert, and spending time with his family, especially his wife whom he considers his best friend.
